Gemstone Properties

Known as a "stone of balance", ametrine is a unique combination of both amethyst and citrine found only in Bolivia. Composed of two unique minerals coexisting together, ametrine is said to inspire harmony and calm.

A "stone of intellect", apatite enhances learning, creativity, insight, and concentration. It is said to clear confusion and frustration, making space for knowledge and truth.

Found in artifacts dating back to 1800BC, carnelian was believed to be a "stone of courage" by the ancient Romans, used to inspire confidence and strength. In Egypt, carnelian was placed on mummies to aid in their journey to the afterlife.

Loved and worn by Alexander the Great, chrysoprase was believed to bring prosperity, abundance, and success with new ventures. It is a "stone of enterprise" and is said to boost self-esteem and belief in one's self.

Freshwater Pearl

Pearls are one of the world's oldest documented gems. They inspire sincerity, integrity, and truth. Pearls are often used in beauty and pharmaceutical products – as they are a great source of calcium and natural iridescence.

When Hailey Gerrits began her jewellery practice in 2010, it wasn’t long before she could be found digging through bins of antique and vintage brasses, patiently searching for the perfect piece. It was the histories of aged metals and the uniqueness of hand cut gemstones that captured her imagination. With each piece she produced she tried to capture that unobtainable quality of spirit found in the unique and unknown stories of these materials. In aged brass and bold design, she finds the ability to bring classic style with modern sensibility to her customers.

Hailey Gerrits Designs has come to encapsulate an understated glamour and sophistication. Not only is each piece handmade, but construction with unique gems and aged metals imbues each piece with an image of the past and all of its romance—fully embodying the notion of ‘one of a kind’. Her pieces are functional and build up a personality in everyday wear.

Her collections are handmade in small batches in her studio in Vancouver, BC, and all materials are ethically sourced. This culminates in the creation of collections which respect the people and planet alike; a celebration of beauty that doesn’t sacrifice sustainability or style.
